CCMH is proud to employ a team of specialized hospitalists who are dedicated to ensuring excellent care for every patient.
Care for Patients During Hospital Visits
What is a Hospitalist?
A Hospitalist is a specialized physician exclusively dedicated to providing comprehensive in-hospital care. Our Hospitalists, experts in internal medicine, family medicine, and other specialties, focus solely on their hospitalized patients, ensuring undivided attention and optimal medical care.
How does the Hospitalist Work with my Doctor?
While in the hospital, the Hospitalist will supervise your care and communicate with your primary care physician as needed. Upon discharge, the hospitalist will help transition you back to your primary care physician. If you don’t have one, our team will assist you in finding a suitable healthcare provider. Our hospitalist team is dedicated to expert care during your hospital stay.
Understanding Hospitalist Care
Hospitalists play a crucial role in the medical field, primarily focusing on patient care within hospital walls. Their services cater to a diverse range of individuals, including:
- Patients with Local Physicians: Many primary care physicians choose to focus on their outpatient practice. The hospitalists are able to use their expertise and knowledge so the primary care provider knows their patients are getting the best care during their stay.
- Patients without a Primary Care Physician: Hospitalists provide vital medical attention to individuals who do not have an established primary care physician.
- Out-of-Town Patients: Visitors from outside the community who lack access to a local primary care physician benefit from the specialized care provided by hospitalists during their hospitalization.
Advantages of Hospitalist Care
There are several distinct advantages to entrusting your hospital care to a dedicated hospitalist:
- On-Site Availability: Hospitalists work exclusively within the hospital setting, ensuring their constant presence and accessibility, 24 hours a day.
- Hospital Expertise: Hospitalists possess in-depth knowledge of hospital procedures and protocols, allowing them to efficiently order diagnostic tests, consult with specialized medical professionals, and make real-time adjustments to treatment plans.
